Evidence suggests that moving into a care homes will also involve some degree of stress. It is usually in times of crisis when that choice of where to live or to place a loved one has to be made relatively quickly. We therefore explored what information is available and considered developing a local guide on what to look for when choosing a care home. We completed desk top research and carried out some semi-structured interviews with residents and their family carer’s about their experience of choosing the homes which led us to make the decision that we didn’t actually need to produce a local care home guide as there was an abundance of information already available and relatively easy to access. Therefore, our ‘Choosing a Care Home’ document has been developed on the basis providing people and carers with a starting point on where to look for further information and advice.
