It has been said that when it comes to transformation front line staff not policy writers, regulators and commissioners deliver change. For change to be successful however it is important that the right people are engaged with and that a culture of leadership at every level is established. Leadership at every level includes formal leaders too, whose job must include linking strategy with the front line.
When it comes to care services, optimum care delivery depends upon clear understanding of the needs of the people requiring services along with the best scientific evidence for practice and the local intelligence informing how this needs to happen. Care pathways must focus on safety, quality and experience of those receiving care as well as the experiences of staff delivering care.
